Now that we are well into the New Year, it is only right that new trends also start popping up. With the many home design trends that seem to keep appearing, it can be hard to keep up and know what’s still on-trend and what’s not. We’ve provided you with just a few of the top kitchen trends of 2018 so far to help you out if you want your home to stay on-trend for the next year:
Coloured Units
Colour is starting to find its way back into our kitchens. With blue and grey cabinets taking over in the past year or so, a new trend has started to enter the scene: Two-tone cabinets. This trend can go one of two ways. For example, if you still want to keep the look of your kitchen neutral, then go for light blue wall cabinets against white base units. Or, if you feel a bit more daring, add a set of more brightly coloured cabinets, such as red, amongst your neutral design.
Patterns and Texture
The new and trendy way to add your own personal touch to your kitchen is by adding patterns and textures, giving your room more of a dramatic look. Many are opting in to getting cabinet doors with patterns on them, whether simple or more eccentric.
However, if this isn’t for you but you still want to add a touch of drama to your kitchen, then try adding some more texture into your kitchen. This can be done through the selection of your worktops. Many stone worktops are becoming popular due to their different veining, patterns and textures. Not only does this make your worktop unique to your home, it will also add some personality to your room.
A Natural Look
Although colour is becoming popular, the more neutral, ‘clean’ tones are still very much on the scene. To add to the brightness that these tones provide, more natural lighting has also become a very popular accompaniment to kitchens. Large windows and skylights are providing people with more natural light in their homes, helping to add to the brightness and illusion of more space.
Coffee Bar
Home bars have become very popular over the last few years, and they have allowed for homeowners, even those with less space, to have areas in their home that they can use for social gatherings. However, as people are moving more towards healthier lifestyles and starting to drink less alcohol, it has been predicted that coffee bars in homes will be the new ‘home bar’ trend. If you’re thinking of adding a coffee bar to your home, then have a look at our range of bar stools for some more inspiration.
Gold
Golden, brassy tones are starting to be subtly added to kitchens all over the country. Gold tones are added in the form of small metal finishes, such as cabinet handles, kitchen accessories, taps, lighting, and so on. They are perfect for adding a touch of glamour to your kitchen without being too over the top. Gold and brassy tones are also great for those of you who have industrial style kitchens, as you can add to the atmosphere of your room whilst also keeping in trend.
