About Ceramic Worktops

Dekton is an ultracompact surface that consists of a sophisticated blend of the raw materials used to produce the very latest in glass and porcelain as well as the highest quality quartz work surfaces.

TSP – Technology of Sinterized Particles
Dekton employs exclusive Sinterized Particle Technology, a high tech process which represents an accerlated version of the metamorphic change that natural stone undergoes when subjected to high temperatures and pressure over thousands of years.

Sinterized particle technology synthesizes truly innovative procedures from the most advanced technology industries. This evolution represents a technological and industrial leap capable of generating a new process, a revolutionary material and a leading product.

Electronic microscopy allows us to fully appreciate the material’s zero porosity, a consequence of the sinterization and ultra-compaction process exclusive to DEKTON. This zero porosity and lack of the micro-defects that cause tension or weak spots mark the difference as far as DEKTON is concerned.

High UV Resistance
Dekton is highly resistant to ultra violet (UV) light and will not fade or degrade over time making it perfect for both indoor and outdoor applications

High Scratch-resistant
Dekton is the most scratch resistant surface on the market and while the slip of a knife won’t damage Dekton, cutting boards are still recommended to protect your household utensils.

Resistant to stains
While other surfaces are stain resistant, Dekton is completely Stain Proof. Even the most stubborn stains like wine, coffee, markers and rust can easily be removed from the surface. Since Dekton has extremely low porosity and contains no resins, it is chemically resistant. Drips or splashes of common household chemicals like bleach, drain cleaners or oven degreasers won’t harm Dekton.

High Resistance to fire and heat
Dekton withstands high temperatures without burning, scorching or cracking. Hot Pots and Appliances like Crock Pots can be placed directly on the surface with no worry of damage.

Resistant to abrasion
Dekton is even more resistant to abrasion than granite making it the ideal surface for commercial applications and high traffic areas such as flooring. While other surfaces show wear over time, Dekton’s finish will last for the life of the product and never needs to be re-surfaced or re-finished

Resistant to ice & thawing
Dekton’s low coefficient of thermal expansion makes it Thermal Shock proof from both extreme heat and extreme cold. It’s natural resistance to ice and thawing makes it perfect for use in even the coldest environments.

High mechanical Resistance
With over 5 times the flexural strength of granite, Dekton can be installed in thinner material over greater spans allowing for up to a 12-inch unsupported overhang on worktops, islands and bartops. Dekton’s high compressive strength makes it an ideal material for walkways, pavers or driveways.

Non-porous
Dekton is non-porous and never needs to be sealed. It naturally prevents liquids and gasses from penetrating the surface, making it a low maintenance surface that is easier to clean.

Colour Stability
The manufacturing process used to make Dekton allows us control the pigmentation and decoration of the material giving better colour consistency from slab to slab and resulting in a long lasting product that will not fade over time. The surface you install today will maintain the same new appearance for the life of the product.

Dimensional Stability
Dekton is very consistent in both dimension and thickness throughout the slab which minimizes the need for field corrections and allows for easy installation.

Waterproof
Dekton is highly water resistant

Non-combustible material
Dekton is a noncombustible material and withstands high temperatures without burning, scorching or cracking.
DEKTON comes in various thicknesses, depending on application requirements, the desired design and effect, in 4, 8, 12, 20 and 30mm

Ceramic worktops and backsplash depth

For kitchens 20 and 30mm, is recommended for worktops. The 20mm is a good thickness for backsplashes and thresholds, though tough each space is different, the application should be the determining factor on which thickness is appropriate.

Edge options

The edge detail is another area where there are plenty of options ranging from Standard Square with Chamfer to cove Ogee. Besides style, consider the function before making the final selection. The radius of the corners is another consideration, especially on islands.

Measure & Template

We will work with the homeowner to measure and template before cutting the stones. The homeowner can then pre-approve the templates and actually lay them out on the ceramic slabs if required. This is particularly important especially when you have a material with a lot of movement so the client can determine exactly which portion of the ceramic they want to use.

Look at several slabs before choosing.

Before sealing the deal, look at a couple of similarly coloured slabs to find the one that perfectly matches your ideal decor.

Once you have your slab it will be reserved for you & transported to our fabrication warehouse, once the template has been signed off the Slab will go into production & become your worktops & islands.

This is then used to manufacture the granite worktops ensuring precise and accurate cutting of the granite for a perfect worktop surface installation.

We would recommend for a more accurate finish that you have your existing worktops removed before we come to template.
When we return to install the new quartz worktops the existing worktops need to be removed also sinks, taps and any hobs should all be disconnected before we arrive to fit.
