Artis postformed surfaces have a cast resin drip edge to seal the underside against moisture penetration from every day spills. General Specifications: Quality: Artis worksurfaces are made using the latest technologies and manufacturing techniques. Artis Surfaces offer a stylish yet durable solution for everyday living which is independently tested to BS/EN438. Artis surfaces are designed to withstand knocks, abrasions, chemicals, cigarette burns, steam, stains from juice, tea, wine or coffee. Artis select E1 grade high density particle board for strength and stability. Heat Resistant: Boiling water & cooking splashes should do no harm. However never place cooking utensils directly from the oven or hob on to the worktop surface as this may burn and blister your work surface. Always use suitable protection against direct contact with heat. Electric kettles and fryers should not be placed over worktop joints to avoid the risk of excessive heat. Scratching: It is recommended not slide crockery or utensils across the worktop as this will cause scratching. On a heavier textured worksurface this is less likely to cause a problem. A protective mat or cutting board should always be used to avoid marking the surface of the worktop. Due to the inherent nature of the product, gloss and lighter textured worksurfaces will require special attention Staining: Whilst the worktop surface will resist most household chemicals, including alcohol and cosmetics, certain items such as beetroot, concentrated fruit juices, dyes, chemicals and sanitary cleaners may stain. It is therefore always advisable to wipe off any spillage immediately. Cleaning: Artis worksurfaces are so easy to maintain. On a day to day basis, all you need to do is wipe them down with a moist cloth and your favourite mild detergent. For more stubborn marks such as fruit juice or coffee, leave the detergent to soak on the surface for a little while before rinsing thoroughly. Gloss and darker surfaces require buffing up to a shine after their normal wipe down to maintain their appealing looks. Moisture: Any excess water must be removed immediately from the worktop surface to avoid the possibility of moisture ingress into the core at joints and cut-outs. Bohemian Chrome, Black and Natural come with a PVC or laminate square edge. These products are more suseptible to moisture ingress at the top and bottom of the front edge. Although the adhesive is moisture resistance it is not waterproof so extra care must be taken with these products (see Sink Installation and Sealing). Spillages, excess and standing water can and will deteriorate edges if left for any period of time. Wipe up any pills immediately.
