Corian® worktops are warm to the touch, have seamless joints, excellent impact, stain and water resistance. The Everest from Corian offer versatility, functionality and durability which is used as a decorative material in a variety of applications. Ideal for a range of kitchen styles from hi-tech to traditional, worktops, splashbacks and integral sinks and many other exciting applications. Corian Everest is supplied in sheets which can then be fabricated into worktops, vanity tops, showers and cladding. Featuring non-porous, hygienic, naturally resistant to mould, bacteria and mildew all Corian worksurfaces come with a 10 year Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty, backed by the DuPont™ Quality Network. General Specifications: Cleaning: Although liquids cannot penetrate Corian, it is best to wipe up spills as they occur. Generally, a damp microfiber cloth used with a standard household kitchen spray, such as Cif or Mr. Muscle should remove most stains. Always clean using a circular motion. Hard water can be a problem in many areas, and can build up over time. If you live in a hard water area, and are experiencing problems with stain removal, apply “Viakal†gel over the area, leave for 2-4 minutes, then remove with a damp microfiber cloth. Using a second clean microfiber cloth, rinse the area thoroughly with water. Heat: Pouring boiling liquids directly into sink may damage your Corian worktop, and where constant boiling hot water taps are fitted, please ensure they are not left running directly into sinks. Hot pans should never be placed directly on any worktop and always be placed on pan rests, platters or something similar. Ensure that pans used on gas hobs are of correct size. Heat producing appliances that sit beneath the worktop, must have an aluminium foil membrane placed on underside of worktop. Staining: While most tough stains can be buffed away, a level of care and maintenance is required, as spills should be cleaned up immediately. Accidental spills of strong chemicals (e.g. paint stripper, brush cleaners, metal cleaners, oven cleaners, cleaners containing methylene chloride, acid drain cleaners, acetone based nail varnish removers etc.) should be flushed promptly with plenty of soapy water to avoid damaging worktops! For nail varnish spills, non-acetone based remover can be used, and then flushed with water. Undetected or prolonged exposure to chemicals may damage the surface. Scratches: Corian® is scratch resistant but not scratch proof; the use of chopping boards and/or pastrymates is recommended. Dark, heavily pigmented colours will show scratches, dust and ordinary wear and tear more readily than lighter, textured forms. Thermal Expansion: Due to thermal expansion Corian® can expand up to 1mm per metre. A gap of at least 3mm should be left at each end of the worktop when fitted and filled with decorators caulk. When Corian® is joined to other materials (such as glass, steel or wood) an elastic type of adhesive, for example polyurethane is required for expansion. Repairable: Corian® surfaces can easily be repaired, because it is solid and homogeneous all the way through. Most damage, including severe impact, heat or chemical damage, can usually be repaired on site to restore the original, smooth, hygienic solid surface integrity. Using an ordinary abrasive cleaner and a scouring pad the surface may be fully restored to its original appearance. Hygienic: Corian® is a non-porous material, its smooth surface does not allow liquids to penetrate and that makes it easy to clean. Naturally resistant to mould, bacteria and mildew, Corian® surfaces have been certified by an independent laboratory as a hygienic material, according to the international norm DIN EN 1SO 846. Internal radius: The minimum internal radius is 80mm. Thermoforming to achieve a smaller radius can result in “bleaching†of the colour. To achieve a radius smaller than 80mm Corian® may have to be laminated, this may be visible in larger particled Corian® colours.

Hob & Sink cutouts: Granite sink / hob cut outs are barred front & back (fitting of steel support bars to give additional support to cutouts), Without steel supports bars, the length of a cut out is reduced considerably. Large cut outs need to be scored and cored on occasions. This leaves the corners of the cutout in place, ready for removal on-site by the installer. Granite is susceptible to ‘blowing out’. This occurs when contact is made with the material whilst cutting or grinding. This is very common in large particled granite. ie. we fill and seal the affected areas with epoxy resin (colour may vary) to ensure the material is not left with any sharp edges or ‘chips’.
A minimum of 120mm is required between two hob cutout, 100mm is required between hob and sink cutouts, 70mm is required between two sink cutouts and sink cutouts are placed 50mm from the worktop front edge.
Stainless Steel Sinks: Please specify the preferred undermounting of Stainless Steel Sinks. Silicone sealant may be rendered ineffective when plumbing the sink in, it is important that the sink is re-sealed by the plumber, or the 12 months guarantee will be invalid if the work is not carried out. If a waste disposal unit is fitted to an undermounted sink after installation, additional support will be required, otherwise your warranty may be invalidated.
Joints: Granite joints are finished with a small ariss to the top edge. Silicone sealant is applied to prevent water ingression.
Overhangs & Supports: Any overhang extending more than 300mm must be supported.Handling: For installations you will need additional labour on worktops weighing above 150kg. Every additional 75kg requires an extra person to assist with lifting. Due to the weight of granite, please ensure that your units are level and securely fixed.Drainer Grooves: Drainer grooves and recessed drainers may be duller than the rest of the polished surface. Colour matching is not always possible as granite can vary dramatically throughout each scant.Points of Note: Hob flanges need to sit on aluminium thermal insulation tape around the cut-out to avoid conducting excess heat & causing cracks in the worktop.Regular use of your Care & Maintenance Kit should ensure that your worktop always looks good.
