Manufacturing with the finest materials is what gives Prima worksurfaces their signature quality. While beautiful and stylish to look at, Prima Black Granite Crystal is also constructed to cope with the wear and tear of everyday living. General Specifications: Quality: Prima worksurfaces are made using the latest technologies and manufacturing techniques. As a sign of their quality, all Prima worksurfaces carry the FIRA Gold Award for quality from the Furniture Industry Research Association. Prima worksurfaces are designed to perform below the surface too; a resin impregnated moisture resistant barrier combines with Bushboard’s unique ‘Tekseal’ cast resin rip-edge to completely seal the underside against moisture penetration from everyday spills. Heat Resistant: Prima worksurfaces are highly resistant to heat, although it is recommended to use of a protective to protect worksurface from direct contact with heat. Never place cooking utensils directly from the oven or hob onto the worksurface, always use protective mats. Also, please avoid placing electric kettles and deep fat fryers over worksurface joints; certain models can generate excessive heat which may degrade worksurface joint allowing moisture to penetrate. Environment friendly: All Prima worksurfaces are endorsed as environmentally preferred with PEFC certification, guaranteeing that the chipboard used comes from environmentally managed and sustainable sources. Cleaning: Prima worksurface is very easy to maintain. For everyday cleaning simply wipe over with detergent diluted with water. Persistent marks can be removed using a non-abrasive cream cleaner and a gentle circular rubbing action to the affected area. After cleaning with detergent and water as described above, buff over the surface with a clean, dry soft cloth to maintain its glossy looks. Please never ever use scouring powders or abrasive pads on any worksurface as they can damage the surface. Gloss, Naturelle, Ceramo, Etchings and Radiance textures are fashionable finishes and tend to show marks and scratches more easily with everyday use, thus these require a little more care. This is also true of darker and plainer colors. Scratching: Prima worksurface is remarkably scratch resistant to the every day sliding of crockery and utensils across the worksurface. Though Prima is scratch resistant but not scratch proof; Never cut directly onto any worksurface: a chopping board should always be used to protect the surface from cut marks. Staining: Prima worksurface is resistant to most common household chemicals or foodstuffs, including alcohol and cosmetics. Some items may cause staining. For good practice, we advise that any spillage is wiped off straight away. Moisture: Prima worksurfaces are sealed to protect against water penetration but it is advised that immediately wipe up any water spillages, especially around the front edge and any joints. In addition, take care not to let moisture lie on joints edge from a wet cloth, as this can also lead to water ingress. Download Prima Care & Installation Guide

Hob & Sink cutouts: Granite sink / hob cut outs are barred front & back (fitting of steel support bars to give additional support to cutouts), Without steel supports bars, the length of a cut out is reduced considerably. Large cut outs need to be scored and cored on occasions. This leaves the corners of the cutout in place, ready for removal on-site by the installer. Granite is susceptible to ‘blowing out’. This occurs when contact is made with the material whilst cutting or grinding. This is very common in large particled granite. ie. we fill and seal the affected areas with epoxy resin (colour may vary) to ensure the material is not left with any sharp edges or ‘chips’.
A minimum of 120mm is required between two hob cutout, 100mm is required between hob and sink cutouts, 70mm is required between two sink cutouts and sink cutouts are placed 50mm from the worktop front edge.
Stainless Steel Sinks: Please specify the preferred undermounting of Stainless Steel Sinks. Silicone sealant may be rendered ineffective when plumbing the sink in, it is important that the sink is re-sealed by the plumber, or the 12 months guarantee will be invalid if the work is not carried out. If a waste disposal unit is fitted to an undermounted sink after installation, additional support will be required, otherwise your warranty may be invalidated.
Joints: Granite joints are finished with a small ariss to the top edge. Silicone sealant is applied to prevent water ingression.
Overhangs & Supports: Any overhang extending more than 300mm must be supported.Handling: For installations you will need additional labour on worktops weighing above 150kg. Every additional 75kg requires an extra person to assist with lifting. Due to the weight of granite, please ensure that your units are level and securely fixed.Drainer Grooves: Drainer grooves and recessed drainers may be duller than the rest of the polished surface. Colour matching is not always possible as granite can vary dramatically throughout each scant.Points of Note: Hob flanges need to sit on aluminium thermal insulation tape around the cut-out to avoid conducting excess heat & causing cracks in the worktop.Regular use of your Care & Maintenance Kit should ensure that your worktop always looks good.
